The principal aim of the post is to undertake evidence syntheses that are identified as priorities by the Evidence Synthesis Programme of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), for a range of health care, public health and social care topics. These evidence syntheses will use a variety of methods, including standard systematic reviews but might also include living reviews, qualitative evidence synthesis and some using more complex methods such as individual participant data or network meta-analyses.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new vision for evidence synthesis in the UK, as a member of the Aberdeen Belfast Evidence Collaboration (ABEC) NIHR Evidence Synthesis Group. The Research Fellow will be an active member of the project team that is a joint activity between Queen's University Belfast and the University of Aberdeen. They will also have the opportunity to engage with others in the Centre for Public Health who are working on evidence synthesis in a very wide range of topics.
About the person:
We are looking to hire someone with experience of evidence synthesis who:
- Has or is about to obtain a PhD in a related discipline.
- Has at least 3 years' research experience in evidence synthesis.
- Has a publication record commensurate with stage of career.
- Has experience of using statistical and software packages relevant to evidence synthesis.
- Is able to deal competently with administrative tasks, with excellent related skills.
- Is an effective team player with the competence and confidence to work on their own and lead research projects or specific research tasks.
- Is able to demonstrate intellectual ability.
- Is able to assess and organise resources.
- Has access to transport or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the post and willingness to travel to meet the needs of the post.
