Are you creative, enthusiastic and passionate about enriching people's lives? Seaside Manor is looking for an inspiring Activities Coordinator to join our lifestyle team in Brighton.

The Role

As our Activities Coordinator, you'll be responsible for planning and delivering a vibrant programme of activities that enhance our residents' quality of life. From arts and crafts to music sessions, garden parties to seaside trips - you'll create meaningful experiences and lasting memories.

What You'll Do

Programme Planning

  • Design and deliver a varied weekly activities programme
  • Create individualised activities based on residents' life histories, interests and abilities
  • Plan special events for holidays, birthdays and seasonal celebrations
  • Coordinate external entertainers and visiting groups

Engagement & Wellbeing

  • Lead group activities such as quizzes, bingo, exercise classes and reminiscence sessions
  • Facilitate one-to-one activities for residents who prefer quieter engagement
  • Support residents living with dementia through sensory and memory activities
  • Encourage social interaction and combat loneliness

Community & Family

  • Organise outings to local attractions, cafs and the seafront
  • Build relationships with local community groups, schools and volunteers
  • Involve families in events and keep them updated on activities
  • Create a newsletter showcasing residents' activities and achievements

Administration

  • Maintain activity records and evaluate programme effectiveness
  • Manage the activities budget
  • Ensure activities meet CQC requirements for wellbeing
About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a creative, 'can-do' attitude
  • Is warm, patient and genuinely enjoys spending time with older people
  • Can think on their feet and adapt activities as needed
  • Has excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Is confident leading groups and engaging individuals

Essential:

  • Experience working with elderly people (care, community or similar setting)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative and resourceful approach
  • Basic IT skills for newsletters and record-keeping
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative

Desirable:

  • Full UK driving licence (for coordinating outings)
  • Qualification in activities provision or similar
  • Experience with dementia-friendly activities
  • Musical or artistic skills
Hours & Schedule
  • Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm
  • Occasional weekends for special events (time off in lieu provided)
  • 37.5 hours per week
Salary & Benefits

24,000 - 28,000 per annum

A Day in the Life

Morning: Set up the lounge for the weekly music therapy session. Help residents get settled and enjoy watching them come alive when the familiar songs begin.

Midday: One-to-one session with Arthur, a former gardener - you've brought in seed catalogues to look through together and plan the spring planting.

Afternoon: Chair-based exercise class followed by afternoon tea. Today you've arranged for a local school choir to visit.

Before you leave: Update the activities board for tomorrow and chat with families at visiting time about the upcoming summer fte.
