Location: Hybrid - any major UK BBC office
Salary: £75,000 - £85,000, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Product Operations plays a vital role in helping the BBC deliver brilliant digital and technology experiences for audiences and colleagues. As a Lead Technical Project Manager, you'll lead the delivery of technical programmes, portfolios or workstreams that support change across the BBC. You'll bring teams together, manage delivery with confidence and clarity, and make sure outcomes are achieved to time, cost and quality expectations

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Manage complex large-scale technology projects, programmes or a portfolio of projects with multiple senior stakeholders with budgets up to £10 million delivered by a combination of internal and supplier teams
  • Deliver outputs, outcomes and benefits within agreed time, cost and quality constraints
  • Apply the most appropriate project delivery methodology
  • Establish appropriate project governance with senior stakeholders
  • Maintain delivery momentum and proactively manage issues, risks and dependencies
  • Ensure a clear delivery plan with deliverables defined against articulated outcomes
  • Ensure plans are visible and understood by project teams, suppliers and stakeholders
  • Create a collaborative team environment with open communication and continuous improvement
  • Work with stakeholders, procurement and Engagement team to run competitive procurement processes including the creation of procurement documentation.i.e, RFPs, Supplier Briefs, Work Orders
  • Ensure suppliers meet contractually agreed delivery milestones
  • Liaise with the 3rd Party Engagement team to align on governance, frameworks and escalation pathways for supplier management

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Proven team leadership experience
  • Experience and proven leadership of delivering technical projects, portfolios or workstreams in an agile product-led organisation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, influence effectively and build trusted relationships.
  • Confident planning and managing delivery, including reporting, governance, project controls and management information.
  • Experience of managing risks, issues, dependencies and competing priorities in complex or time-sensitive environments.
  • A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to bring people together and create momentum through clarity, openness and shared purpose
  • Experience of managing competitive procurement processes
  • Management of supplier relationships.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working in product, technology, digital, media or broadcast environments.
  • Familiarity with different project delivery approaches, with the judgement to apply the right method for the work.
  • Experience of portfolio and capacity management
  • Programme management qualification such as MSP
