Why Greencore?

Following the combination with Bakkavor in January 2026, we're one of the UK's leading creators of convenience food, driven by a simple purpose: to make every day taste better.

As a vibrant and fast-moving business, we're proud to employ over 28,000 talented colleagues across 36 manufacturing sites and 21 distribution depots in the UK and the US. Together, we bring delicious food to life. Our products cover every meal occasion from breakfast through to dinner and dessert, with lunch and snacking in between. In FY25, our shared passion helped us achieve combined revenues of approximately 4bn.

Here at Wisbech, we have a team of 525 colleagues and manufacture premium chilled ready-to-cook meals for major retailers including Sainsbury's, Aldi and Co-op.

What you'll be doing:

As a Quality Assurance (QA) Operative, you will play a critical role in ensuring our products are manufactured safely, legally and to the highest quality standards. You will act as the eyes and ears of the Technical Team on the factory floor, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, site standards, food safety legislation and quality procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out quality checks throughout the production process to ensure products meet specification requirements.
  • Monitoring and verifying Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Quality Control Points (QCPs).
  • Completing quality documentation, traceability records and compliance paperwork accurately and in real time.
  • Conducting factory audits, GMP audits and hygiene inspections across production areas.
  • Identifying, reporting and escalating non-conformances and supporting corrective actions.
  • Monitoring product quality attributes including weights, temperatures, coding, packaging and presentation standards.
  • Collecting samples for microbiological, nutritional and shelf-life testing in line with site schedules.
  • Supporting investigations into customer complaints, incidents, non-conformances and quality concerns.
  • Working closely with Production, Engineering and Technical teams to maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring all food safety, HACCP, GMP and Health & Safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Supporting customer audits, site visits and internal audits when required.
  • Providing guidance and support to operational teams regarding quality standards and compliance expectations.

What we're looking for:

Previous QA experience within a food manufacturing environment is essential for this role.

Due to the technical nature of the position, we are specifically looking for candidates who have worked within a Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Technical, or Food Safety role within the food manufacturing industry.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Previous QA experience within food manufacturing (essential).
  • A strong understanding of food safety, quality systems, GMP and HACCP principles.
  • Experience carrying out factory audits, quality checks and compliance monitoring.
  • Confidence completing quality documentation and maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge of traceability requirements and food manufacturing standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify quality issues proactively.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence challenging standards where required.
  • The ability to work independently and make decisions regarding product quality and compliance.
  • Good IT skills and experience using production or quality management systems.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Please note that this is not an entry-level position, and applicants without previous QA experience within a food manufacturing environment are unlikely to be considered.

What you'll get in return:

  • Competitive salary and job-related benefits
  • Holiday entitlement
  • Competitive matched pension contributions
  • Life insurance up to 4x salary
  • Company Share Save Scheme
  • Greencore Qualifications
  • Exclusive Greencore employee discount platform
  • Access to a full Wellbeing Centre platform
  • Free on-site parking
  • Enhanced parental leave and menopause policies
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities

At Greencore, we put our people at the core. We celebrate our differences and help everyone to be themselves at work. If you're an experienced QA professional looking to develop your career within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, we'd love to hear from you.
