Finance Assistant

To apply for this role you must have:

  • A qualification in Accounts/Finance, AAT level 2 or above or active AAT studier or other comparable finance qualification
  • Previous experience in a finance operations role
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated

We are seeking a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the Finance Bursary team in managing supplier payments, purchase ledger, and general finance administration. This role is ideal for someone with strong numeracy skills and finance experience.

The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £14.67 per hour + holiday pay

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process purchase ledger invoices and ensure correct authorisation for payments.
  • Maintain supplier records and reconcile monthly supplier statements.
  • Prepare payment runs and manage purchase-to-pay processes.
  • Assist with month-end reconciliations, sales invoices, and cash allocation.
  • Support banking tasks, including cheque and cash deposits.
  • Provide general departmental support, including ordering stationery and handling post.

Selection Criteria:

  • AAT Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) or active AAT studier.
  • Previous experience in a finance operations role.
  • Strong numeracy skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial systems.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
