Front End Developer - Sheffield

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Junior Frontend Developer to work for our client within the banking sector. This is initially a 1-year contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Sheffield.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for building intuitive, high-performance applications. Youll work primarily with React on the frontend and contribute across the full stack- including iOS native mobile development, Java-based API development, and test automation.

This is a hands-on, growth-oriented role ideal for someone who wants to expand their skills into DevOps and CI/CD pipelines while working closely with experienced engineers across the stack.

Responsibilities:

2 years experience in software development

Develop and maintain responsive user interfaces using React

Contribute to iOS native mobile application features and improvements

Collaborate with backend developers to integrate and extend Java-based APIs

Write and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium

Participate in full-stack development and deployment

Support and improve DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize code for performance and scalability

Requirements:

Proficiency in React.js and JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals

Exposure to iOS native development (e.g., Swift, Objective-C)

Understanding of Java-based backend services and REST APIs

Familiarity with test automation tools such as Selenium

Interest or experience in DevOps and CI/CD pipeline tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)

Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn across the tech stack

Good collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional teams

Desirable:

Experience with version control (Git) and Agile development workflows

Knowledge of containerization tools (Docker) and deployment environments (Kubernetes, AWS, etc.)

Familiarity with mobile-first and responsive design best practices
