Professorial Research Fellow

Professorial Research Fellow

Life and Mind Building, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3EL

Fungal infections are a growing threat to planetary health and, in human medicine, the elderly and immunocompromised are a high-risk group. Resistance to the few existing treatments is increasingly widespread. The Ineos Oxford Institute for antimicrobial research (IOI - https://www.ineosoxford.ox.ac.uk/) was established in 2021 to provide innovative solutions to the global problem of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) that threatens our existing way of life. With ~90 staff, IOI is expanding its research portfolio and invites applications for a Professorial research fellowship (PRF) in antifungal drug discovery and development, and antifungal resistance.

Investigators working on antifungals will have the opportunity to establish their group in a state-of-the-art building, the Life and Mind Building (https://lifeandmind.web.ox.ac.uk/) opening in September 2025. Successful individuals will receive a competitive salary for the first five years, and a generous start-up-package to enable them to conduct world class research immediately on arrival.

IOI, part of the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division, has access to world class expertise and resources in infection biology, organic and medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, biochemistry, biophysics and structural biology, among other disciplines. The successful applicant will also be part of the Oxford University initiative in fungal biology under the auspices of Oxford Global Health.

Applications (Arial font size 11, 1.15 line spacing) should include a personal statement and summary of the project (each one page), CV including publications, patents and grants (where applicable), and a detailed research programme (maximum 5 pages), and names of two referees. Please send as a single PDF file.

The University of Oxford is committed to equality and valuing diversity. All applicants will be judged on merit, according to the selection criteria.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Tuesday 26th August.
