Python Developer

Job Title: Senior Python EngineerLocation: London (hybrid)My client is looking for a highly skilled senior Python engineer to join their growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working with Python, PostgreSQL/SQL, and a strong grasp of Django for building scalable and maintainable backend systems. You will play a key role in designing and developing robust applications, improving system architecture, and mentoring junior developers.

Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Python and DjangoWrite efficient, reliable SQL queries and work with PostgreSQL databases

Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality solutions

Optimise database performance and manage migrations

Develop and integrate RESTful APIsEnsure code quality through testing, code reviews, and best practices

Participate in architectural decisions and help shape the future of our platform

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement

Requirements:4+ years of professional experience as developer3+ years of professional experience using Python Strong knowledge of SQL and hands-on experience with PostgreSQLSolid experience with Django framework

Familiarity with modern development tools such as Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines

Experience building and maintaining APIs and backend systems at scale

Understanding of performance tuning and database optimisation

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Experience with testing with TDD or BDD
