Practice Assistant – Banking Team 12-Month FTC (Maternity Cover)

London, Hybrid Working

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced PA to join a leading global law firm’s Banking team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performing environment and is ready to play a key part in supporting a busy and dynamic practice group.

This isn’t a traditional PA/secretarial position - as a PA, you will work closely with lawyers, team leaders, and business services teams to deliver exceptional operational and organisational support. The ideal candidate will be proactive, commercially aware, and confident managing complex workflows from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing high-level support to the Banking team, ensuring seamless delivery across all operational tasks.
• Managing complex matter administration, including supporting the full matter lifecycle and liaising with Legal Project Management and other internal teams.
• Handling client matter intake using Intapp (or similar systems), ensuring all processes are followed accurately.
• Coordinating extensive international travel arrangements, including multi-leg itineraries, visas, and logistical support.
• Supporting fee-earners with organisational needs, workflow prioritisation, and proactive issue resolution.
• Bringing fresh thinking and new initiatives to the team, contributing to continuous improvement and efficiency.

Essential Experience & Skills:

• 5+ years’ experience as a PSE, PA, or Legal Secretary within a legal or professional services environment, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
• Strong understanding of matter management and the matter lifecycle, with confidence using intake systems such as Intapp.
• Demonstrable experience managing intricate global travel, including visa applications.
• Highly diligent, solutions-focused, and able to think creatively under pressure.
• Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders.
