Here at Sense, we support people with complex disabilities to live the life they choose. We're looking for a Waking Night Support Worker to join our team at Hyde Close Flats in Barnet; a welcoming service supporting seventeen adults with sensory impairments, mobility needs, and complex learning disabilities to live as independently as possible. As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will be awake and actively supporting throughout the night, ensuring the people we support feel safe and comfortable until the morning team arrives.

This is a permanent role working 20 hours per week on a waking night basis, paying 13.00 per hour plus Inner London Allowance of 1.58 per hour and a 0.50 per hour waking night enhancement.

The service is home to a large communal sensory garden and provides a supportive environment where residents live as independently as possible. No two days will be the same.

This role has the following requirements:
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous experience supporting people with sensory impairments or complex needs
  • Experience using communication methods such as signing, symbols, or objects of reference
  • Care Certificate
  • Knowledge of BSL - desirable

We are looking for someone who is:
  • Warm, caring, and empathetic
  • Experienced in supporting people with sensory impairment or complex needs
  • Flexible and able to adapt their communication style to meet individual needs
  • Comfortable supporting people with mobility needs
  • Willing to attend training and develop in their role

This role might include supporting people with:
  • Personal care and hygiene
  • Everyday tasks like cooking and cleaning
  • Finances and medication
  • Getting out into the community for activities and social events
  • Their social, emotional, and developmental wellbeing
