About the jobJob summaryLead Intelligence Analyst The successful candidate will work in partnership with our current Lead Intelligence Analysts, managing the development of strategic, tactical and operational criminal intelligence insight.
With proven technical experience of intelligence analysis, the post holder will;
- Drive innovative use of specialist software including i2, CDR, and OSINT packages
- Support the development and delivery of effective training to intelligence analysts, maximising returns in support of strategic priorities
- Build connections across the national intelligence analysis community to ensure the IPO is using the latest techniques, tools, tactics, and best practice
Working Style This role will be carried out in-line with IPO Hybrid working arrangements where staff are currently expected to spend at least
20% of their time working onsite from one of our offices. This role is based in our
Newport Office .
The requirement for attendance at an office location can vary by role so we would encourage candidates to discuss working arrangements with the recruiting manager to agree a reasonable balance between working from home and the office.
The IPO holds a visa sponsor licence however; this role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. Candidates will therefore need to have an existing right to work in the UK at the time of application.
While this role is initially offered on a 12 month fixed-term basis, there may be potential for it to become permanent in the future, subject to business requirements.

Job descriptionMain duties consist of but are not limited to:- Coach and empower the intelligence analysis team to maximise the use of specialist analytical software
- Provide quality assurance of the IPO's intelligence products against national standards such as those laid out by the College of Policing and the Cabinet Office Professional Head of Intelligence Assessment (PHIA).
- Provide analytical advice, guidance, and support to the Intelligence and Law Enforcement Team, and build a co-operative, problem solving approach across the directorate.
- Engage with key stakeholders across the IPO and with external partners to consult on the commissioning of (and feedback on) collaborative analytical products.
- Ensure the IPO's intelligence analysis products are informed, robust, and evidence based, and are contributing to the delivery of the directorate's strategy
- As a senior manager within the Intelligence Hub, collaborate on the overall effective running of the Hub, supporting the Head of Intelligence Analysis and other leaders across the directorate.
Person specificationEssential criteria1.NIAT, NIAM, DIAM, NAP or equivalent in Intelligence Analysis AND 2 College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Programme certification as a Senior Intelligence Analyst AND
- Experience in coaching analysts in the use of specialist operational intelligence analysis systems.
- Experience in analysing and explaining large and complex analysis to non-technical senior managers.
- Experience in delivering a significant body of intelligence analysis in an intelligence, law enforcement, regulatory framework or similar environment.
