Materials Engineer | £28,000 - £40,000 | Exeter
\n\nAre you a Materials Engineer with experience in composites, adhesives or non-metallic materials? We're working with a well-established engineering business that specialises in advanced materials testing and is looking to add a Materials Engineer to its growing technical team.
\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected organisation where you'll work on a wide variety of projects across multiple industries, developing your technical expertise in materials testing, analysis and project delivery.
\n\nThe Role
\nAs a Materials Engineer, you'll be involved in the full testing lifecycle, from specimen manufacture through to data analysis and technical reporting. Working within a close-knit engineering team, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality testing programmes for a diverse customer base.
\n\nKey responsibilities include:
\n● Manufacturing composite and non-metallic test specimens using specialised equipment and techniques.
\n● Carrying out mechanical and thermal testing, including tensile, compression, fatigue and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA).
\n● Conducting destructive testing and analysing failure modes.
\n● Interpreting test data and producing detailed technical reports.
\n● Managing testing projects to meet customer deadlines and budgets.
\n● Acting as a technical point of contact for both internal teams and customers.
\n● Supporting continuous improvement and providing technical guidance where required.
\nAbout You
\n\nWe're keen to speak with candidates who have:
\n● A degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
\n● Industrial experience within composites, adhesives or non-metallic materials testing or manufacturing.
\n● Knowledge of BS EN ISO and ASTM material testing standards.
\n● Experience using mechanical, fatigue or thermal testing equipment would be advantageous.
\n● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
\n● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
\n● Good project management and organisational abilities.
\n● Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
\n● A practical, hands-on approach combined with strong attention to detail.
\n\nSalary & Benefits
\n● £30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.
