Hays Accountancy & Finance are recruiting on behalf of a large and well-established public sector organisation for two qualified Accountant opportunities. These positions offer the chance to join a busy finance team supporting a diverse range of financial activities, projects and stakeholders across a complex are excellent opportunities for qualified accountants seeking valuable public sector experience within a collaborative and professional finance environment.

Your new role

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Budget monitoring, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Supporting financial planning and performance management processes.
• Capital accounting and fixed asset management activities.
• Treasury and cashflow management responsibilities.
• Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and financial compliance.
• Supporting internal and external audit processes.
• Maintaining strong financial controls and governance procedures.
• Providing financial advice and business partnering support to operational managers.
• Identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
• Supervising and supporting junior finance team members where required.
• Working with financial systems and ERP platforms to ensure accurate financial reporting.

What you'll need to succeed

• Fully qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent recognised qualification)
• At least 2 years' experience within financial management, accounting or audit functions
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Financial accounting
  • Management accounting
  • Capital accounting
  • Treasury management
• Strong understanding of accounting standards, financial regulations and best practice
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience working with financial management and ERP systems
