Buyer – Procurement
Decorative Panels Components Ltd and Decorative Panels Furniture Ltd are seeking an experienced Buyer to support procurement activities across both businesses.
Salary: Very attractive salary package commensurate with industry experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure materials, components, and services in line with company requirements.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost‑effectiveness, and reliability of supply.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and supply agreements.
- Monitor stock levels and demand forecasts to support production and customer fulfilment.
- Work closely with production, planning, sales, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Monitor supplier performance including delivery, quality, and service levels.
- Resolve supply issues and manage supplier‑related risks proactively.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records.
- Support sustainability and compliance initiatives where required.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial acumen with a focus on profitability, margin management, and negotiation.
- Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make strategic decisions.
- Familiarity with supply chain operations and production processes.
- Knowledge of UK/EU timber regulations and sustainable sourcing practices (desirable).
Experience
- Previous experience in a purchasing or buying role within manufacturing, furniture, interiors, or related sectors.
- Knowledge of board materials, hardware, fittings, laminates, or furniture components.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Commercial awareness and ability to manage costs effectively.
- Understanding of manufacturing and production planning environments.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Good IT skills including ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.

Weekend Production – Woodworking Machinist
Shifts: 36 hour working week (Friday to Sunday between 6am to 6pm).
Positions available: Saw Operators, Edgebander Operators and Router Operators.
Responsibilities
- To competently operate woodworking machinery to produce panels that meet specification and quality standards.
- Ensure panel paperwork is completed correctly throughout processing.
- To communicate effectively with other operators to ensure production targets are met.
- To identify quality issues and defects to prevent further defective products being produced.
- To comply with the company quality policy and ISO 9001 standards.
- To comply with the company health and safety policy.
Personal Attributes
- Experience in operation of Saws, Edgebanders or Routers (we have a mixture of Biesse, Homag & SCM machines).
- Experience in robotic handling devices (training can be provided).
- Organised and planned approach to work.
- Commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can work as part of a team or independently.
- Ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.
- Problem solving attitude.
- Pay: £13.05 - £15.42 per hour based on demonstrable competence.

Decorative Panels Components operates from a 175,000 sqft modern manufacturing facility based on Lowfields Business Park, Elland. We specialise in the production of cut, edged, drilled, grooved and shaped panels for manufacturers and retailers within the kitchen and bedroom sectors, with the capability to produce over 650,000 panels per week. Part of the Decorative Panels Group, there is a total of 450 skilled employees split between our West Yorkshire and Teesside sites dedicated to the manufacture and distribution of laminated sheet materials, component panels and flat pack furniture.
