The job itselfThis role is ideal for aspiring future teachers, offering valuable experience in classroom management across a wide range of subjects. You will provide high-quality classroom cover for absent teaching colleagues, delivering pre-set work and supporting pupils in their learning. Please note, this role does not involve lesson planning or assessment.
It is an especially exciting time to join our school as we prepare to move into our brand-new school building, marking a new chapter in our journey of educational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise whole classes during teacher absence, delivering pre-set work and maintaining a purposeful learning environment.
· Support pupils individually or in groups to access learning effectively.
· Register and record pupil attendance.
· Provide necessary resources and support for pupils, including Sixth Form students.
· Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
· Maintain classroom order and follow school behaviour management procedures.
· Support with morning, breaktime and lunchtime supervision duties.
· Assist with the supervision of pupils during trips and out-of-school activities.
· Provide clerical and administrative support as required.
· Contribute to the wider ethos and aims of the school.
Person Specification
Essential:
· GCSE English Language and Maths (Grade C/4 or above or equivalent).
· Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
· Ability to work constructively as part of a team.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Calm, confident and resilient approach.
· Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable:
· Experience working in a school setting.
· Knowledge of school policies (e.g. safeguarding, behaviour, health & safety).
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic ICT.
· Willingness to invigilate exams.
