NEW COMMISSIONER VACANCY AT PHC
Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC) is looking to appoint one commissioner to serve on the Board of the Trust Port which operates the commercial Port of Poole and oversees the 10,000 acres that make up Europe’s largest natural harbour.
PHC is looking for a high calibre individual with an interest in Poole Harbour to fill this vacancy for a period of three years, commencing on 1st November 2026.
Applicants will be able to show skills and experience commensurate with a non-executive director’s position. The applicant must have special knowledge, experience or ability inenvironmental matters affecting harboursand a special knowledge, experience or ability in one or more of the following matters is desired:
- commerce;
- maritime activities;
- health and safety;
- management;
- public relations and community issues;
- knowledge and understanding of the harbour and its surrounding area;
- industrial relations;
- harbour operations, shipping, fishing or cargo handling;
- accountancy or financial management;
- boating and other water related leisure activities;
- any other skills and abilities considered by the Commissioners to be relevant to the discharge by the Commissioners of their harbour functions.
Commitment/Honorarium
- The Board normally meets on the last working Friday of each month. Commissioners are expected to attend in person; however, video attendance may be approved in exceptional circumstances. Additionally, ad hoc meetings are held from time to time with a variety of Stakeholder Groups, and Board Members are encouraged to attend as many of these as possible. An annual total commitment of around 15 days is expected. Commissioners will also be required to attend training seminars as considered appropriate by the Chairman. An honorarium of £8,662 per annum will be payable, subject to regular attendance. Travel expenses from home to meetings will not be paid.
