Job Overview

Are you a Registered Nurse or ODP looking for your next career step? Do you want to be involved in leading a new team and service development? The new Surgical Hub at Dewsbury and District Hospital is looking for a Band 6 Team Leader to be based in day case theatres and PACU for a 12 month period.

Unit Details

The state‑of‑the‑art elective unit has 2 day‑case theatres operating under general anaesthetic, 4 treatment rooms for minor operations and procedures under local anaesthetic, and 10 outpatient clinic rooms.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellence in clinical leadership, team building and communication skills.
• Lead others to provide high quality patient care.
• Manage staffing, skill mix, sickness and monitor standards of care.
• Participate in recruitment and selection, audit and managing daily patient flow through the unit.
• Act as department head in the absence of the Unit Manager.
• Maintain flexibility to undertake further learning and personal development, and to work across all areas of the Surgical Hub (Scrub Person, Anaesthetic Assistant, Recovery Person, Circulating Person, Escort Person).
• Oversee running of Outpatient Clinics, Major Treatment Rooms, Arrivals and Discharge within post holder’s qualifications.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or ODP with Band 6 experience.
• Experience working within a surgical specialty in theatres.
• Excellent clinical skills and patient care commitment.
• Experience leading a team, managing staffing and quality of care.
• Capability to undertake additional roles within surgical hub as required.
