About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and passionate Drift Crew Chief & Lead Technician to take full responsibility for the preparation, maintenance, setup, and race-day operation of two competitive drift cars supporting two drivers.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of drifting and vehicle dynamics. The successful candidate will ensure both vehicles are safe, reliable, competitive, and fully prepared at all times, allowing drivers to focus solely on performance.

The ideal candidate lives and breathes motorsport, understands the demands of drift competition, and takes pride in delivering race-ready vehicles every time they leave the pit lane.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Preparation & Maintenance

  • Manage the complete preparation and maintenance of two competition drift vehicles.
  • Conduct thorough pre-event, post-event, and routine inspections.
  • Perform servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems are operating at the highest standard, including:
    • Engine
    • Transmission
    • Differential
    • Suspension
    • Steering
    • Braking systems
    • Cooling systems
    • Fuel systems
    • Electrical systems
  • Coordinate and schedule repairs, upgrades, and rebuilds as required.

Competition Setup & Performance

  • Prepare and configure vehicles according to driver preferences and event requirements.
  • Set and monitor:
    • Tire pressures
    • Wheel torque specifications
    • Suspension settings
    • Ride height
    • Alignment settings
    • Corner weights (where applicable)
  • Record setup changes and maintain vehicle setup logs.
  • Assist in vehicle development and performance improvements.

Driver Support

  • Ensure both drivers are comfortable, safe, and properly positioned before every session.
  • Check and adjust:
    • Seat position
    • Harness fitment
    • Steering wheel position
    • Pedal position
    • Driver cooling and communication systems
  • Conduct all pre-run and post-run driver checks.

Race & Event Operations

  • Lead all pit and paddock operations during events.
  • Prepare vehicles for practice, qualifying, and competition runs.
  • Manage tire inventory, tire changes, and pressure monitoring.
  • Manage fuel levels and refueling procedures.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently during events.
  • Ensure both vehicles are ready for every scheduled session with minimal downtime.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all vehicles meet motorsport safety requirements and event regulations.
  • Inspect and maintain:
    • Harnesses
    • Seats
    • Roll cages
    • Fire suppression systems
    • Battery isolators
    • Safety equipment
  • Ensure vehicles are scrutineering-ready at all times.

Logistics & Inventory

  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, fluids, wheels, and tires.
  • Prepare equipment and vehicles for transportation.
  • Manage workshop organization and cleanliness.
  • Coordinate parts procurement and supplier relationships.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain service records and maintenance schedules.
  • Track component life cycles and replacement intervals.
  • Document setup changes, repairs, and driver feedback.
  • Provide recommendations for performance, reliability, and operational improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in drifting, motorsport, circuit racing, rally, or high-performance vehicle preparation.
  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic abilities.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle dynamics and chassis setup.
  • Experience working independently and under pressure during events.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair vehicles quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to travel and work weekends as required by event schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Crew Chief, Lead Mechanic, Race Technician, or Motorsport Technician.
  • Fabrication and welding experience.
  • Experience with motorsport data acquisition and logging systems.
  • Understanding of alignment, suspension tuning, and drift vehicle setup.
  • Forklift, trailer, or transport experience is advantageous.
