The Head of Media will lead and deliver the club's media, communications and content strategy across all non-football operations, including commercial partnerships, retail, ticketing, hospitality, community initiatives, our new stadium development - Power Court, and the club's corporate affairs. The role will also own and develop the club's internal communications function, ensuring staff are informed, engaged and connected to the club's purpose and direction.

The role will ensure consistent, positive coverage of the club's business operations across local, national and industry media, while supporting the club's wider commercial, cultural and reputational objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the club's media and communications strategy across all non-football operations, ensuring alignment with commercial, community, corporate and people priorities.
  • Own and develop the club's internal communications function - establishing the right channels, cadence and tone to keep staff informed, engaged and aligned with the club's values, priorities and major announcements. Work closely with HR and senior leadership to ensure internal and external messaging land consistently.
  • Manage proactive media relations and reputation management, acting as the primary communications lead for the club's business operations and securing consistent, positive coverage across local, national and industry media.
  • Develop integrated content and storytelling campaigns that enhance the club's brand, support commercial objectives, engage supporters and maximise value delivered to partners and stakeholders.
  • Line manage and work collaboratively with the Football Communications Lead to ensure a joined-up communications approach across the club, providing strategic support on football-related activity where required while retaining clear ownership of non-football communications.
  • Lead and develop the club's media and content team, overseeing planning, production, editorial standards, and performance across owned and internal channels, managing agency, freelance and production relationships as required.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leadership, supporting executive messaging, all-staff communications, crisis communications, stakeholder engagement, and high-profile club announcements to protect and enhance the club's reputation.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Experience & Knowledge
  • Proven experience in a senior media, communications, or public relations role, ideally within sport, entertainment, or a high-profile consumer brand.
  • Strong track record in media relations, reputation management and integrated content or campaign development.
  • Experience designing and delivering internal communications programmes, including channel strategy, change communications and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to shape clear narratives for a range of audiences including staff, supporters, partners, media, community stakeholders, and corporate audiences.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing teams and managing external agencies and production partners.
  • Confidence in advising senior executives on communications strategy, issues management and major announcements.
  • Strong understanding of digital media, social platforms, content performance metrics, and internal communications tools and platforms.

  • Strong written and verbal communicator, able to adapt tone and messaging for a wide range of audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to delivery - comfortable working at both a senior advisory level and in the detail.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and able to build effective working relationships across football and non-football departments.
  • Proactive team player who can also work independently and take ownership of their area.
  • Values internal communications as a strategic function and understands its role in building a strong organisational culture.
  • Genuine passion for football, supporter culture, and the role clubs play in their communities.
