GM Performance Power Units is seeking an upper-level intern to support development of Python tools to support the creation of internal artificial intelligence. This role targets upper-level students who bridge mechanical with data or computer science and want hands-on experience applying deep learning to hybrid system development and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
• Help create test plans for gathering data from physical ERS hardware
• Set up, train, and evaluate large datasets and straightforward neural network models
• Assist with creating, organizing, and running test datasets and generating clear plots and summaries for the engineering team.

Qualifications:
• Upper-level student in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field.
• Experience working with thermocouples and data acquisition components
• Solid understanding of Python and general programing skills
• Good communication skills and a collaborative, learning oriented mindset

Desirable Skills:
• Experience working with Pytorch and creating deep learning models
• Familiarity with electrical PCBs and batteries
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., GitHub) for version control and collaborative design workflows.
• Preferably for two years or more, in Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Formula Student, or a similar competitive student engineering program.

• Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning at the intersection of data science, software, and electronics.
• Able to work independently on well-scoped tasks while asking timely questions when blocked.

• Organized, detail oriented, and committed to clear documentation and high-quality results.
