At Sense, we don't just provide care - we champion independence, and we're looking for an Intervenor to join our South West Intervenor Service in Exeter, Devon, at 14.35 per hour. This role is permanent at 24 hours per week, working Tuesday to Friday with one weekend day per month.
As an Intervenor, you'll provide one-to-one support to adults who are congenitally deafblind acting as an enabler, promoting independence, and facilitating communication with the world around them. You'll work across a range of settings including people's own homes and the wider community, delivering a responsive and high-quality service to people with sensory impairments and learning disabilities. Our service is proud to hold an Outstanding CQC rating. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle with business insurance applied are essential for this role - mileage reimbursed.

In this role, you'll be:
- Providing one-to-one support tailored to each person's needs
- Supporting people to access their communities and take part in activities
- Encouraging independence and helping people to develop their social networks
- Advocating for the people you support and contributing to their person-centred plans
The role may also involve elements of personal care and supporting people through behaviours that can sometimes challenge, so a calm, patient, and resilient approach is important.
To be successful in this role, you'll need to:
- Be warm, reliable, and consistent
- Be comfortable working across a variety of settings and with different people
- Be flexible and available across the required shift pattern
- Have good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Be confident using your initiative for lone working, whilst also working well as part of a team
- Have British Sign Language Level 1 or be willing to work towards it
- Hold an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or be willing to work towards it
- Have knowledge of other communication platforms, or a willingness to learn
