HALAL BUTCHER

We are looking for a fully qualified Halal Butcher to join our dedicated team in Llanidloes to process in accordance with Islamic rites and our own high animal welfare standards.

We implement strict codes of practice and polices to protect both animal welfare and the Halal standard.

Working Hours: Starting at 06:00am - until production is finished - Monday to Friday

Key responsibilities:

• At the direction of the Production Manager or their deputy humanely kill the lambs quickly, cleanly and painlessly whilst they are unconscious
• Responsible for ensuring all tasks are carried out within the allocated work area, are done so in a manner to protect product safety, authenticity and quality in accordance with the Food Safety Quality Management Systems (FSQM) & Health & Safety procedures.
• Liaise when required, with internal departments and external bodies such as the Foods Standards Agency (FSA), Official Veterinary (OV).
• Where knife work is being undertaken, you will be expected to possess the relevant skill and aptitude for the role. (knife safety induction training must be completed before commencement of knife work)
• Where machinery work is being undertaken, you will be expected to be proficient in the use of all relevant machinery and tools that are required to fulfil the role. This includes the use of saws, cutting equipment etc.

Knowledge and experience (essential):

• Knowledge of the Pillars of Islam and the Concept of Halal is essential within this role
• WATOK regulations
