Job Summary: Symetrica is a growing business based in the UK and the US providing a wide range of radiation detection solutions for our customers. Symetrica is known for innovative technologies that identify radiation threats for the Homeland Security Market, and we are currently hiring an IT and Network Administrator to ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of our data communications network to manage CE plus and ISO27001 certification. The ideal candidate will have the skills and expertise to deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor all active network and computing equipment, ensuring seamless operations. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving issues, implementing security measures, proactively managing our IT infrastructure, and using Python scripting to support and develop production automation tools that improve efficiency and streamline operational processes. The IT Network Administrator will play a crucial role in maintaining a robust and dependable network infrastructure for our organization. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Regularly monitoring networks and servers and maintaining the same. Keeping the organization informed of security threats and prevention. Creating various user accounts and managing access control options. Implementing and managing IT security protocols and procedures. Maintaining Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO27001 certifications. Managing cloud data backup and archives. Supporting production with their automation tools to improve operational efficiency & process streamlining. Installing and upgrading software and hardware. Managing and overseeing on premise to cloud service migration & maintenance. Activities including assessments, security controls, security monitoring, security incident management, security audit, security review, and security improvement(s). Retrieving and recovering data as and when required. Optimizing computer systems by performing diagnostic tests. Staying up to date with the latest developments and changes in the IT sector. Developing and implementing reporting systems. Supports all company locations and is able to occasionally provide off-hours support if required. Required Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: Strong experience in managing and monitoring multi-site on-premises server infrastructure. Experience across the Microsoft ecosystem (Entra ID, Defender for Endpoint, Exchange Online). Firewall experience, including configuration and troubleshooting (Sophos desirable). Track Record of business modernization and AWS Cloud Service Management. Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining Windows and Linux servers. Knowledge of backup, recovery, and BCDR practices. Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt. Familiarity with Cyber Essentials+ and ISO27001 standards. Education and Experience: BSc or higher in Computer Science or related field. 3–5 years’ experience in a systems or network administration role. Hands-on experience in networking, routing, and switching. Experience supporting security/compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO27001, Cyber Essentials+). Exposure to scripting or automation (Python, Power Shell). Knowledge of Juniper, Cisco, CWNA or BCNE. Relevant certificates (e.g. Comp TIA Network+/Security+) are desirable. Travel Infrequent travel to company sites may be required with appropriate prior notification. This is not expected to take more than 10% of working time, on average.
