As our Testing Manager, you will take ownership of the testing plan and capability across Saga’s New Product Delivery portfolio, ensuring we deliver high-quality, reliable products and services to our customers.

You will lead the end-to-end quality assurance approach across the full software development lifecycle – from early discovery and planning through to execution and release. With a strong focus on strategy, automation, and continuous improvement, you’ll ensure best-in-class testing capability across a complex delivery ecosystem.
We’re looking for a confident, forward-thinking Testing Manager who brings both strategic oversight and delivery excellence. You’ll be a natural leader with a passion for quality, continuous improvement, and building high-performing teams. We work in a hybrid way at Saga both at home and in the office. This role requires you to be working from our Folkestone office roughly once a week, as well as ad hoc trips to London, allowing us to collaborate and share success as a business.
Role Responsibility
As Testing Manager, you will lead and coordinate the test activity across a number of business areas to deliver world-class quality assurance testing capability for our systems and services across insurance.
You’ll do this through excellent delivery and strategic focus with specific emphasis on automation, best practice and colleague leadership.
You will be responsible for the development of the test strategy and plans for each deliverable, as well as oversight and progress reporting for their fulfilment. Taking ownership of testing within the software development lifecycle, with accountability for the testing and quality assurance of applications across the delivery ecosystem.
Other accountabilities will include:
• Implementation and improvement of quality assurance standards across a diverse range of enterprise platforms and services, including those with regulatory requirements
• Lead the programme QA capability and capacity supporting the ongoing development of capability and taking accountability for testing within the delivery lifecycle, aligning with relevant technology and business units where required.
• Creation, definition and ownership of a QA strategy and approach in support of the DevOps and Agile development principles covering functional and non-functional test areas.
• Create and deliver to a testing plan which aligns to key programme milestones, calling out delays and risks where they exist
• Working/coordinating with partners to align test plans, enable end-to-end testing and ensure a collaborative plan and its delivery are achieved.
• Coordination and accountability for control practices in relation to testing.
• Track and manage progress to plan, reporting into programme leadership
• Working collaboratively with project management and Technology professionals to ensure business requirements and deadlines are met.
• Working with third-party development teams and solution providers.
• Actively support QA requirements through root cause and incident management processes across the delivery suite.
• Shared ownership of the testing of technology deliveries to confirm quality conformance to specifications and quality deliverables.
• Leading innovative solutions to reduce manual testing requirements and driving efficiencies in the testing and software development lifecycle.
• Supporting risk controls and input into overall risk and incident management processes across the quality assurance landscape.
• Supporting the delivery of technology programmes, projects and workstreams to agreed time, cost, and quality criteria.
• Understanding and assessing application/project risks and applying plans and methods to mitigate.
• Providing technical expertise and colleague mentoring to the QA and business community.
• Ensuring that testing is delivered in line with the requirements from internal and external regulatory bodies including the adherence to cyber security controls and frameworks.
The Ideal Candidate
As a Testing Manager, it is essential that you have a technical background and experience working in a lead QA position.
Experience of testing in the financial services sector would be of distinct advantage.
Other skills and experience required include:
• Track record of successful test management framework development and implementation
• Fulfilment of test and practices in a range of methodologies including Agile and LEAN based principles
• Proven experience of colleague management and coaching.
• Experienced QA tester used to working in a financial services regulated environment
