Technical Delivery Manager Workday & People Systems

Salary: £68,700 £91,950Location: Cambridge, UK (Hybrid % office-based)Contract: PermanentHours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Delivery Manager Workday & People Systems to lead the delivery, support and continuous improvement of a global organisation's HR technology platforms, with Workday at the core.

This role sits at the intersection of Technology and HR, ensuring business-critical people systems remain secure, reliable and deliver an excellent employee experience.

The Role

As Technical Delivery Manager, you will lead a specialist team responsible for the delivery, support and governance of Workday and the wider People Systems landscape. You will combine strong technical expertise with delivery leadership, ensuring solutions are delivered efficiently while maintaining high standards of service, security and platform performance.

Leading a team of approximately 6 8 technical professionals, you will work closely with HR, Payroll, Recruitment, Technology teams and third-party partners to deliver business value through technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of People Systems solutions from requirements through to deployment and live support.
  • Manage, mentor and develop a high-performing HR Systems Delivery team.
  • Act as the technical subject matter expert for Workday and People Systems, ensuring best practice configuration and implementation.
  • Manage third-party suppliers and implementation partners to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Contribute to the People Systems roadmap and oversee ongoing development and release cycles.
  • Ensure solutions meet quality assurance, testing, architecture and service transition standards.
  • Lead 2nd and 3rd line application support, maintaining agreed service levels.
  • Drive ITIL-aligned service management, incident resolution and continual service improvement.
  • Own security, access governance, data governance and audit readiness across supported platforms.
  • Build strong relationships across Technology and HR functions to support strategic business objectives.

This is a hybrid position requiring approximately % office attendance.

About You

You will be an experienced technology leader with extensive Workday expertise, strong delivery management skills and a passion for delivering exceptional service.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Extensive experience supporting and delivering Workday and HR/People Systems.
  • Workday HCM Certification plus at least one additional Workday certification.
  • Minimum of five years' experience configuring and supporting Workday in both technical and functional capacities.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Workday Security
    • Access Governance
    • Data Governance
    • Audit Readiness
    • Data Privacy
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL and Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks.
  • Proven experience delivering solutions using Agile methodologies.
  • Experience managing incidents, changes and IT service management processes.
  • Previous experience leading and developing technical teams.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and system optimisation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable
  • ITIL Certification.
  • Scrum Master or Agile Certification.
  • Experience supporting additional Workday modules, including VNDLY.
