Part-Time Trading Standards Officers Fixed Term: 6 Months £50 per completed case/inspection

[Local Authority Name] is looking for experienced and motivated officers to support our Trading Standards team. You'll help protect consumers, support businesses, and ensure fair trading practices across the local authority area.

• Carry out inspections, investigations and test purchases in line with legislation and council policy

• Assess compliance with consumer protection, product safety and fair trading law

• Prepare reports, gather evidence and record cases on council systems

• Provide advice to businesses and follow up on non-compliance where necessary

• Work collaboratively with colleagues and enforcement partners

• Qualification in Trading Standards (DTS, DCATS, or equivalent) with up-to-date CPD

• Demonstrable experience in inspections, investigations and enforcement

• Strong analytical, communication and report-writing skills

• Ability to manage caseloads independently and meet deadlines

(Familiarity with local authority case management systems desirable)

• 6-month contract, part-time with flexible hours

• £50 per completed case/inspection
