Job Description

Job DescriptionAre you passionate about Learning and Development? Do you have an investigative background and are passionate about the development of our future investigators? Our L&D Department are recruiting x2 Training Officers to join the Investigative Training Team.You will lead and be responsible for designing, developing, delivering and reviewing specific investigative training programmes at PIP 2 level and above. You will work within the wider Investigative training team to provide trainer resilience and support to the design, preparation and delivery of other investigative learning programmes.As an Investigative Training Officer, you will report directly into the Investigative Detective Sergeant.Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deliver and evaluate specific training programme(s) at PIP 2 level and ensure they achieve organisational objectives and efficiency requirements that meet operational needs and contribute to the personal development of students.
  • Research and maintain current practices, legislation and procedures for such programmes.
  • Ensure the design, development, preparation and amendment of lesson plans and course material pertaining to Investigative course(s).
  • Assess the performance and competence of students, to provide feedback and prepare development plans where necessary to enable a student achieve competence.
  • Within the wider context of Investigative training to learn, prepare for and maintain a ‘portfolio of courses’ to provide trainer resilience and support for the preparation, delivery and evaluation of investigative training.
  • Provide dynamic subject matter expert (SME) support if required within the wider the investigative training context for trainers delivering courses with the ability to prepare and deliver specific elements based on operational need /trainer resilience.
  • Within the wider context of Investigative training, be ready to respond to urgent force learning needs, to design and develop learning packages for delivery taking into account force priorities and objectives.
  • Promote the force policies in terms of Diversity and Health and safety.
  • Be prepared to work on and to deliver investigative training programmes within any force Learning and development sites.
Skills, Knowledge And ExperienceIn-post training is provided to support in support of the required essential criteria.Essential
  • Operational investigative background at PIP level or above with sound working knowledge of the relevant operational legislation, practice and procedures.
  • Trainer to be qualified PIP 2 or above, having previously successfully completed the ICIDP or CID foundation course.
  • Sound knowledge of current diversity issues including legislation.
Desirable
  • Experience of working on a Major Incident/Homicide
  • Experience of working under the direction of an SIO
  • Experience in a surveillance or intelligence role

This is to ensure that members of the police are fully aware and accountable for the unique powers entrusted to them and the standards of professional behaviour they swear to uphold.Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.Hours: This is a full-time position working between core hours of 08:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday.Location: Tally Ho Training Centre, EdgbastonInterviews: Interview dates to be confirmed.
