Reports to: Vitrified Residue Destorage Contract Manager

Why this role matters

As a Vitrified Residue Destorage Commercial Assistant, you’re a key player in delivering one of our most unique and high‑profile programmes—the Vitrified Residue Returns (VRR). You’ll help keep our international commitments moving, support smooth commercial delivery, and ensure our customers, regulators, and global partners experience the very best of NTS.

You’ll also be the beating heart of resilience within the Shipping & Solutions Commercial team—keeping us organised, informed, connected, and ready for anything.

This role is all about precision, communication, teamwork and pride. Every task you complete plays a part in NTS’s mission to deliver safe, secure, reliable nuclear transport.

What you’ll be doing

Commercial & Contract Delivery

  • Support the commercial team with contract management activities, customer requests and stakeholder engagement.
  • Keep our contract admin sharp: invoicing, contract register maintenance, verification processes and Information Asset Register updates.
  • Maintain departmental spreadsheets and action trackers—we’ll rely on you to keep everything flowing smoothly.

VRR Programme Support

  • Assist in implementing contracts that govern the destorage and transport of vitrified residues for Japanese and European customers.
  • Work closely with technical, commercial and operational teams across NTS and Sellafield Ltd to continuously improve processes and documentation.
  • Produce the monthly Residue Export Facility report for Baseload customers.
  • Coordinate VRR-related meetings and activities.
  • Support on-site activities at Sellafield, including within active areas, during customer visits and VRR witnessing.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage all customer visits to the Sellafield site on behalf of NTS and NDA.
  • Lead the coordination and administration for customer and regulator audits.
  • Maintain proactive, helpful relationships with all teams involved in planning and delivering stakeholder visits.

Specialist Areas

  • Handle export control processes, including licence submission and administration.
  • Support business continuity and contribute to team resilience.

How you’ll show up

You’ll bring NTS values and culture principles into everything you do:

Our Values

  • Transparency & Cooperation – open communication, shared solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement & Learning – always growing, always curious.
  • Delivering Commitments – reliable, consistent, dependable.

Our Cultural Principles

  • Helpfulness – supporting colleagues and customers with a positive spirit.
  • Drive – confident, curious, committed to making things better.

Who you’ll work with

You’ll collaborate with:

  • Regulators, suppliers and global government organisations
  • Teams across NTS and Sellafield Ltd

A truly international network.
