Job Description Youth Worker (Fixed Term) Castle Douglas £12,623.75 - £13,257.50 The Youth Work Service in Dumfries and Galloway in partnership with Castle Douglas Development Forum are offering an opportunity for adults who have experience in working with young people to join an innovative and award-winning youth work team to deliver a range of informal learning programmes in Castle Douglas. You will be required to work 15 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year. You will be delivering group work programmes and supporting the development of opportunities for young people with Castle Douglas Development Forum, funded externally by the Holywood Trust. Castle Douglas Development Forum, based out of the Crannog at Carlingwark Loch are building an exciting programme of new activities, groups and events for young people and are looking for a youth worker to support in its development. Working as part of the Stewartry Locality Youth Work Team, this post will offer the opportunity to create exciting new opportunities alongside young leaders and build on the provision of Youth Work within the area. You should be motivated and interested in working with young people aged 12 in an informal way. You will have experience in youth work, or perhaps consider yourself to be good with people. This challenging and stimulating post is part of a wider team of workers developing and supporting creative youth work activity and involvement across Dumfries and Galloway. All training required will be provided. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged. The post will require evening and weekend work on a weekly basis, for which payment is included in the salary offered. This post is fixed term for up to 6 months. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
