Electrical Design Engineer

Role Overview A London based engineering consultancy is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to support its building services team. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical installations across a diverse range of commercial, residential, and institutional projects. Reporting to senior engineers, they will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, efficient solutions.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and design electrical building services systemslighting, power distribution, fire alarms, small power, and dataensuring compliance with industry regulations such as BS7671 / IET Wiring Regulations Produce detailed design documentation: drawings, schematics, specifications, and calculations using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, or similar . Liaise and coordinate with architects, mechanical and structural engineers, and contractors to deliver integrated design packages . Conduct site visits and inspections to verify installation quality and capture as-built conditions.

Provide technical support to junior engineers and assist in design reviews and quality control. Participate in project meetings, present electrical design proposals to clients, and address technical queries. Maintain accurate project documentation and assist in cost-monitoring and schedule tracking.

Keep abreast of emerging technologies, energy efficiency approaches, and best practices in electrical design Required Experience & SkillsTypically 25 years experience in electrical design engineering within MEP/building services consultancyDegree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline Proficient with electrical design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech/Electrical-OM, etcStrong technical knowledge of regulations and standards (BS7671, Building Regs, IET Wiring Regs) Excellent problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks. Effective communicator, able to work collaboratively across disciplines and engage with clients and contractors. Professional development focus; ideally working towards membership of a relevant institute (e.g. IET).

Full UK driving licence preferred for occasional site visits.
