Our Client has a requirement for a Principal/Lead Electrical Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Mancheseter.

Role Purpose:

To act as the client-facing technical lead for electrical engineering on a multi-disciplinary FEED project within the Hydrogen energy sector. This role involves leading the electrical scope, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering high-quality engineering outputs across a complex, high-voltage process plant environment.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical engineering discipline on projects and proposals
  • Prepare, check, and approve technical documentation
  • Allocate and monitor work to meet project schedules
  • Ensure compliance with national/international codes, legislation, and client/company standards
  • Develop specifications and requisitions for:
    • HV and LV switchboards
    • Transformers
    • UPS systems, VFDs, Motors
    • Power factor correction
    • Trace-heating and lighting systems
  • Prepare installation scopes of work
  • Review supplier bids and prepare technical assessments
  • Interface with clients and project teams to ensure successful delivery

    • Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering (apprenticeships may be considered)
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or actively working towards it)
  • Strong leadership in a project engineering environment
  • Experience with HV system design (up to 33kV)
  • Knowledge of HV protection systems (schematics, grading, settings)
  • Experience with detailed electrical network design
  • Earthing system design and calculations
  • Power system analysis (fault level, load flow)
  • Specification of electrical equipment for hazardous areas (ATEX/IECEx)
  • Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder engagement skills
