Education and Skills - Building Bright Futures

Are you an experienced and dedicated teacher with a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs?

Our innovative Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Service is committed to making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people with physical and medical needs, ensuring they are included and supported within their communities.

We are looking for a qualified teacher with extensive experience in SEND, exceptional personal, organisational, and communication skills, as well as a creative mindset and a ‘can do’ attitude. Experience in supporting pupils to overcome physical barriers to learning is particularly valuable, and an understanding of manual handling would be advantageous.

As part of this role, you will work in mainstream schools and settings to promote the inclusion and achievement of children and young people with physical or medical needs, some of whom have significant and complex needs. Advisory Teachers have long term involvement with individual children and young people with the most complex needs, their families, schools and settings, and other services that support them. You will work flexibly, supporting pupils continued access to education and appropriate progression, particularly at times of transition and when needs change. You will also contribute to Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and Reviews and provide clear reports and guidance.

We are looking for a teacher with strong knowledge of SEND processes, current legislation and effective strategies for supporting children and young people with physical and medical needs. You will bring excellent communication skills, a flexible and creative approach, and the ability to build strong relationships with families and professionals. Your expertise will help shape positive, aspirational outcomes for children and young people across the county.

The role is based in Trowbridge but involves working across the county, requiring independent work and travel to various locations. As the position can sometimes be isolating, resilience and resourcefulness will be essential qualities for this role.
