Keenan Recruitment has been exclusively retained by NSPCC to recruit for a Helpline Practitioner.

The NSPCCs purpose is to prevent child abuse and neglect of children across the UK and Channel Islands. They have been fighting for childhood for the last 130 years and their organisational strategy for 2021-2031 is enabling the NSPCC to achieve greater change for children and inspiring others to join us in the fight for childhood.
The NSPCC Helplines are:
Telephone and online services for adults who are concerned about the welfare of a child or young person
Telephone and online services for children and young people who need advice and support
A single point of contact supporting the NSPCC Helpline and a range of other NSPCC services.
The helplines provide advice, guidance and support. The NSPCC Helpline can take action on a callers behalf if they have concerns about a child who is either being abused or is at risk of abuse
- Permanent role.
- 35 hours per week.
- Lanyon Building in Belfast.
- £34,582 per annum, plus a 3.5% rota allowance and a £200 working-from-home allowance.
This role is ideal for someone with strong frontline safeguarding experience.
As a minimum, youll hold a Level 4 safeguarding qualification and have a solid understanding of legislation when responding to concerns about children.
Person specification
1. An appropriate qualification from a safeguarding field, for example, social care, health, education, law enforcement, youth justice, youth work or counselling AND post-qualification experience of working in a role where you have had a level of responsibility for safeguarding children or families.
2. An understanding of the needs of children and their development.
3. Up to date knowledge and good understanding of current childcare legislation, research and best practice guidance.
4. Experience of working in a high demand customer focused environment.
5. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
6. Proven ability to provide advice and assistance by telephone and in writing to children and adults.
7. Ability to collect, assess and summarise essential and key information and record this succinctly in a written form.
8. Well-developed basic IT skills and experience of using a client information data base.
9. Ability and willingness to assist in the promotion of NSPCC services, principles and values to a variety of audiences, including fundraisers media and other professionals, including oral presentations.
10. Ability to effectively work independently, as a member of a team and also with other agencies.
