The Highways Technical Services (HTS) team is seeking a motivated and proactive Assistant Engineer to help deliver the East Riding of Yorkshire Councils Winter Service Plan, ensuring our highways remain safe, resilient, and operational during severe weather. You will also provide essential support to the wider HTS team in maintaining a well-prepared and efficient highway network year-round.

As an Assistant Engineer, you will:

• Support the planning and delivery of winter treatments, snow clearance, and network resilience activities.
• Coordinate and liaise with operatives, contractors, and other internal services such as vehicle maintenance and fleet, to ensure driver and vehicle readiness, equipment suitability, and service deliverability.
• Assist with staff training, ensuring equipment is operationally ready and de-icing materials are correctly stocked and stored.
• Respond promptly to customer enquiries, service requests, and Member queries, providing excellent service.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organised, and proactive individual with strong teamwork skills. Experience in highways, civil engineering, or a related technical environment is desirable, along with a practical approach to operational delivery and problem-solving.
