Lecturer in Politics (Fixed Term 12 months)

The School of Law and Politics is seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate to join our internationally-renowned Department of Politics and International Relations.
The Department of Politics and International Relations is a dynamic and growing part of the inter-disciplinary School of Law and Politics. We are an intellectually pluralist and diverse community, with internationally-recognised and established strengths in political theory; Welsh politics and devolution; British political history; and European politics. In recent years the department has invested heavily in enhancing its strength in international relations and global politics, and now has a strong research profile in areas including cold war history; cyber-security; critical international theory; gender studies; international law; and intelligence studies. Research and teaching across the department embraces a variety of intellectual and methodological approaches. Moreover, being situated in a School of Law and Politics presents opportunities to innovate across disciplinary boundaries in both teaching and research.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate (Lecturer Grade 6) in politics with the ability to teach existing modules covering European populism and either comparative politics or research methods. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to teach to a high standard, and will be expected to contribute to the teaching programme of the department at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The successful candidate will further possess a proven ability in effective and persuasive communication to a variety of academic and non-academic audiences.

This post is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave and available immediately.
Salary: 41,064 - 46,049 per annum (Grade 6)
Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale, unless in exceptional circumstances.
