Do you believe the best support often comes from someone who's been there? We're looking for a passionate and proactive Recovery Worker Peer Support Lead to join our Substance Misuse Service at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, London, on a full-time, 35-hour per week basis.

Working within our integrated healthcare team, you'll recruit, train and support Peer Supporters, empowering people in custody to play an active role in their own recovery while helping others do the same. What you'll be doing

  • Recruit, train and supervise Peer Supporters and mentors within the prison.
  • Support the delivery of peer-led recovery initiatives across all prison wings.
  • Encourage engagement in recovery pathways using a trauma-informed, person-centred approach.
  • Build strong relationships with prison staff, healthcare teams and external partners.
  • Coordinate peer support activities, ensuring high-quality service delivery and accurate record keeping.
  • Promote health, wellbeing and recovery through one-to-one support, groups and awareness events.
  • Monitor outcomes, maintain quality standards and contribute to service improvement.
What we're looking for
  • Experience supporting people affected by drug and/or alcohol misuse.
  • A passion for recovery, rehabilitation and empowering others.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Confidence working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good IT and administrative skills, with experience maintaining accurate records.
