SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary

Location: Near Attleborough, Norfolk
Salary: £23,835 - £24,568 (depending on experience and qualifications)
Hourly Rate: £13.34 - £13.75
Hours: 40 per week, Term Time Only
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We are partnering with a welcoming specialist secondary school near Attleborough, Norfolk, to recruit a committed SEN Teaching Assistant. The school supports students aged 11-16 with communication and interaction needs, Autism, SEMH needs, dyslexia, and anxiety-related barriers to learning.

With small class sizes of up to 10 students and at least three staff per room, you'll have the time and space to provide personalised, meaningful support. The school benefits from an experienced on-site therapy and clinical team that works closely with education staff to create a consistent, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to help them feel safe, valued, and ready to learn
  • Encourage independence, personal development, and positive behaviour
  • Support the delivery of a broad, engaging curriculum tailored to individual needs
  • Assist class teachers with daily routines and classroom organisation
  • Adapt to the changing needs of the class and wider school
  • Support students' cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or working towards it)
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH or ASD needs
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (due to rural location)
