 Senior Software Engineer

Remote (with 1 day per month in East Midlands)

Shape the future of a modern software platform. Lead technical direction. Grow with a business investing heavily in engineering.

Are you a Lead Software Engineer looking for a role where your ideas genuinely influence the future of a product?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a major platform transformation, taking a key role in designing, evolving, and scaling a modern software ecosystem. You’ll combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership — helping shape architecture, champion best practices, and mentor talented developers as the engineering function continues to grow.

You won’t just be delivering features; you’ll have a voice in how technology decisions are made and play a key part in building a platform that supports the future success of the business.

Why this opportunity?

  • High-impact role – influence architecture and technical strategy across a business-critical platform.
  • True technical leadership – mentor engineers, drive standards, and help create a culture of engineering excellence.
  • Transformation journey – be part of a significant modernisation programme using contemporary technologies.
  • Autonomy and influence – work closely with architects, product teams, and senior stakeholders to shape solutions.
  • Career growth – an opportunity to expand your leadership responsibilities as the platform and engineering team evolve.

The Role

As Lead Software Engineer, you’ll:

  • Design and develop scalable web applications and APIs.
  • Make key architectural decisions and contribute to technical strategy.
  • Lead engineering discussions and influence design approaches.
  • Mentor developers and support the growth of the wider engineering team.
  • Champion clean code, testing, automation, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and business stakeholders.
  • Play a central role in a large-scale platform transformation.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and helping others succeed.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET.
  • Proven experience building applications with React and TypeScript.
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and database design.
  • Experience designing and working with APIs and modern software architectures.
  • A passion for building clean, scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This is a role for a Lead Engineer who wants ownership, influence, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact — not just another development position.
